Contemporary Poolhouse
CAPE COD, MA
When envisioning this contemporary poolhouse project, our client wanted an enclosed hot tub for all-season use, plus a kitchenette and bathroom to support their new pool.
Nestled in trees on one side and with views of the backyard on two other sides, the poolhouse’s sunken hot tub is meant to feel tucked in. We used the closeness of the pool and the poolhouse to our advantage, creating an aesthetic overlap between the house’s cantilevered pergola and the water’s surface. During the warm summer months, the poolhouse doors open fully, while the continuous decking accentuates a natural flow between indoor and outdoor.
The interior bath spaces were designed to feel simple and spa-like, with a skylight that allows light to graze the back of the shower wall during the day. At night, the shower and hot tub room are lit by warm LED lighting tucked into the wood paneling.
